Guided Tour

Building & Exhibition Tour

Your group will receive a docent lead guided tour of the Indianapolis Art Center building (includes studios) and the current contemporary exhibition on display. Tour will also include a brief tour of the sculptures in ARTSPARK (weather permitting, April-September).   

ARTSPARK Sculpture Tour

Your group will receive a docent lead guided tour of the sculptures in ARTSPARK. Tour is offered April thru September.

Garden Tour

Your group will receive a docent lead guided tour of the gardens in ARTSPARK, our outdoor sculpture garden (weather permitting. April-September).

Tour and Demo

Your group will receive a docent lead guided tour of building, exhibitions, or ARTSPARK. 30 – 45 minutes
Choose a demonstration in glassblowing, ceramics, printmaking, or painting that will last 45 minutes.
$175 for adult groups of up to 12 and kids groups of up to 18. If you have more in your group you will need to schedule another demonstration.

HANDS-ON-ACTIVITIES

Includes a 30-45 minute guided tour of building, exhibitions, or ARTSPARK. Each activity is led by a professional working artist.

Drawing

Portrait Drawing
  • Learn the basics to draw your self portrait. Learn the proportions and structure of the head and face. Each person will use a mirror to draw their portrait and take home their finished drawing.
  • Ages 6 and up
  • 1 hour activity
  • $150 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $10.50 per person in addition to the minimum price.

 

Painting

Impressionist Painting

  • Learn about the history of Impressionist painting and the master artists who made it famous. Each person will create their own impressionist masterpiece on a 9x12 canvas panel. Students will use acrylic paints.
  • Ages 12 and up
  • 1.5 hour activity
  • $192 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $14 per person in addition to the minimum price.
Portrait Painting
  • Learn the basics to paint your self-portrait. Learn the proportions and structure of the head and face. Each person will use a mirror to paint their portrait and take home their finished painting on a 9x12 canvas panel. Students will use acrylic paints.

Mixed Media

Collage Books

  • Create your own book using an assortment of collage materials. This activity helps the younger children with their hand eye coordination and allows them to express their creativity.
  • Preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade.
  • 45 minute activity
  • $126 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $10 per person in addition to the minimum price.
Collage Painting
  • Create your own collage about you using magazines, paint, markers, and pencils.
  • Ages 6 and up.
  • 1 hour activity
  • $168 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $12 per person in addition to the minimum price.
Mixed Media Sculpture
  • Make your own miniature sculpture out of different colored wire and beads.
  • Ages 12 and up
  • 1.5 hour activity
  • $204 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $15 per person in addition to the minimum price.

 

Glassblowing
(Ages 10 and up. Must be at least 56 inches in height in order to use the equipment necessary to participate in the activity. Wear cotton shirt and pants. Please bring your own sunglasses. Items made can not be taken the day of the activity. All pieces must be picked up by group leader after given date. We can also ship for an additional cost. 2 hour minimum)

Paperweight Activity
Each person will make a paperweight using different colors and shapes.
2 hour activity
$350 minimum cost for up to 12 people. If you have more than 12 people you will need to book another session.

Ceramics/Pottery
(Ages 4 and up. 2 hour minimum. Items can not be taken the day of the activity. All pieces must be picked up by group leader after given date. All pieces will be fired, glazed and fired again by instructor. We can ship for an additional cost. 2 hour minimum). Please wear cloths you don’t mind getting messy in.

Learn the basics of hand building.
Learn how to make a coil or slab piece. 
At least 1.5 hour activity
$350 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $25 per person in addition to the minimum price. (masks, tiles, plates, or mugs)      

Wheel throwing.
Learn the basics of wheel throwing. Everyone in the group must have prior clay experience.
At least 1.5 hour activity
$360 minimum cost for up to 12 people. If you have more than 12 people you will need to book another session.

Jewelry

Beaded Jewelry
  • Each person will create their own beaded jewelry bracelet. A perfect activity for girl scout troops or adult groups.

  • Learn the basics of jewelry making. Create a pair of earrings during this activity.
  • Ages 12 and up
  • 2 hour activity
  • $336 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $25 per person in addition to the minimum price.

 

Fiber Arts

Silk Scarf Dyeing

  • Create a beautiful dyed silk scarf
  • Ages 12 and up
  • $420 minimum cost for up to 12 people. Groups over 12 people will be charged $30 per person in addition to the minimum price. No more than 15 people per group.
