Outreach Philosophy

Celebrating the spirit and diversity of the Indianapolis community, the Art Center's Outreach focus is to stimulate and strengthen the role of the arts in communities and to increase accessibility of artistic experiences to all people. Recognizing that all people can and should be involved in the giving and receiving of creative expression, the Outreach initiatives of the Art Center will seek to enhance the influence of art in education, recreation, social interaction and human development.

Many young people and adults face daily struggles with social, economic, academic, physical and emotional challenges. Outreach Programs utilize a variety of methods to reach their audiences, such as special exhibitions, ArtReach, ArtVan, SMART (Supportive Mentoring through ART) program, Day of the Dead, Beyond Perceptions, Creative Connections and, Access Art as well as a curriculum of Discipline–Based Art Education to engage, enhance and enlighten.

The Art Center's Outreach programs strive to empower people of all ages and ability with accessible resources.
