Creative Connections
Creative Connections is an arts education program that allows the Art Center to make art accessible to youth who may otherwise lack adequate opportunities. This program grew from the Art Center's belief that creativity is vital to the fulfillment of our students’ potential, whatever that potential may be.
The Art Center’s Creative Connection scholarships program awards art classes at the Indianapolis Art Center specifically for children 18 and under with physical, social and emotional challenges. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of class availability and your child’s interest in art.
The Art Center provides all the art education programming for the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI) off-site and on-site. Visually impaired Master Artist Sadashi Inuzuka, has worked with students of the ISBVI to create a sculpture and gathering space for the students in ARTSPARK. The students gave input into the actual design of the piece, which includes tactile elements as well as recordings created and inspired by the students of the School for the Blind.
The Art Center also provides special programming for St. Vincent’s New Hope, a program serving adults with traumatic brain and spinal injuries. As needed, we provide specially trained assistants to allow disabled students to participate in our regularly scheduled classes. Other organizations that have been part of this special programming include Noble Center A.R.C., the Indianapolis Public School’s special education department, Indiana Parents Network and Riley Children’s Hospital.
